Take Care Of Yer Friends

Friend is a word that I don't throw around
Though it's used and abused, I still like the sound.
I save it for people who've done right by me
And I know I can count on if ever need be.

Some of my friends drive big limousines
Own ranches and banks and visit with queens.
And some of my friends are up to their neck
In overdue notes and can't write a check.

They're singers or ropers or writers of prose
And others, God bless 'em, can't blow their own nose!
I guess bein' friends don't have nothin' to do
With talent or money or knowin' who's who.

It's a comf'terbul feelin' when you don't have to care
'Bout choosin' your words or bein' quite fair
'Cause friends'll just listen and let go on by
Those words you don't mean and not bat an eye.

It makes a friend happy to see your success.
They're proud of yer good side and forgive all the rest
And that ain't so easy, all of the time,
Sometimes I get crazy and seem to go blind!

Yer friend just might have to take you on home.
Or remind you sometime that you're not alone.
Or ever so gently pull you back to the ground
When you think you can fly with no one around.

A hug or a shake, whichever seems right
Is the high point of givin', I'll tell ya tonight,
All worldly riches and tributes of men
Can't hold a candle to the worth of a friend.

This is by no means a full and complete list of my friends. Many more photos of my dearest friends can be found in the renaissance pictures section of this site. I wanted to share some pictures of the people important to me in "real life".

This beauty is Melissa ... we were going out for the evening with our friend Tom in L.A.

And this is Tom

David & Chelle moved in next door and quickly became friends.

One of oldest and dearest friend, John Naylor. This was taken on my 21st birthday.

Eddye Sue. We have the same birthday ... this one was taken at Brinkley's in Falls Church, VA during one of our joint birthday parties.

Adrianna. We were at The Shanty in Cardiff, CA. She was living in San Francisco but recently moved back to San Diego. Unfortunately her job keeps her so busy I haven't seen her yet :(

"Crazy" Dave Yeakel. This is another picture taken at one of my birthday parties. Dave had just returned from Mardi Gras in New Orleans and was showing off his beads.

Rick Yeakel. The first picture is Christmas Day 2000. The second one is of us in Virginia. I met both Rick and Dave while living in VA and now we all live in San Diego. In fact, Rick is living with me at the moment :)

Dougie ... he really hates when I call him that. I don't know if I would have had the courage to move to California if it had not been for Doug's many pep-talks. He is a great guy. Here he is with D.C., who just adores him.

Adrianna and I again ... we were acting silly at the gas station at 3 a.m. and the attendant took our picture for us.

Mike Himmel and Sue Kelley. Sue is one of my oldest and best friends. Mike is one of my favorite men (and a very talented singer and songwriter). This picture was taken at a surprise birthday party I had planned for Sue.

Sue again ...

Shanon & Melinda. Shanon and I used to work for the same company ... she was in our Denver branch. Melinda is my sister and best friend. We were on a company trip to Las Vegas.

Tammy & Mark. Also known as Lord & Lady Foxchase or Mistress Vixen & English Rogue. I met them at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and they have become wonderful friends outside of faire.
